Restoration Costing

Restoring cars to their former glory takes a combination of time, passion, expertise, vision, good communication and money.   To do the car justice, it needs to be a considered process and done correctly to ensure that the end product is worthy and celebrated.  We want our clients to feel proud of their cars and to feel secure in the knowledge that their car has been restored to the highest of standards.

We understand what cars mean to their owners.  We understand that most people will only restore a few cars in their lifetime, if that, and that they want it done to an exceptional standard.  We work closely with our clients to ensure that we share the same vision and that they are fully informed throughout the process.

As with renovating older homes, it is difficult to estimate the time frame and costing of repairing older vehicles.  While we can give an indication of the process, when we begin to disassemble the vehicle we generally come across extra work that needs to be completed.  While the car may seem to be in reasonable condition from a glance, it is not until we disassemble the panels and strip the paint that the true nature of the job will reveal itself.  There could be damage underneath some panels that hasn’t yet become apparent or possibly previous repairs that are inadequate and need to be rectified.  To ensure that the end result is uncompromised, this work will need to be completed before proceeding.

If this does occur, we will contact the owner to discuss how they would like to proceed.  Photos are also used to allow the owners a visual of any new findings.

We charge an hourly rate and do require progress payments to ensure we are able to function as a business as some projects are long term.  We also require upfront payments for any parts which are purchased.

While restoring older cars can be a challenging process, don’t be disheartened. We have an appreciation for being able to work on such vehicles and work on them as we would our own.  The pleasure gained from taking your car out for its Sunday drive knowing that it has been meticulously restored is well worth the journey.
